Surprise, surprise, President Obama didn't show up for the Jamboree to help the Scouts celebrate 100 years. Instead, he sent a video tape... 100 YEARS OF SCOUTING AND THE BEST HE CAN DO IS A TAPED SPEECH????? And why didn't he show up in person? Oh, yeah he had a major television appearance followed by a fundraising event. Now, let's translate that from BS to English: He had to go on The View and then a party at Whoopi Golberg's house to drum up some money for his party. Here's what I really don't understand: THE MAN HAS A JET AND/OR HELICOPTER AT HIS DISPOSAL AND WAS ONLY A FEW HOURS AWAY!!! We're talking about the guy who flew all the way across the country to plant a tree for Earth Day, but he can't fly an hour or two to make a personal appearance for the Boy Scouts. He didn't send a video of himself planting a tree, how does he expect a taped speech to make up for a real appearance? Hmmm...
Another thing that happened this week that got me a little riled up, a federal judge yanked the teeth right out of the Arizona S.B. 1070. I guess it isn't okay for a state to pick up the fed's slack. My question is: Why? The Obama administration seems to think that being the president is some sort of popularity contest, and even with that skewed perception they are losing the contest. I am just glad that Jan Brewer has the marbles to appeal the decision, and is willing to take it all the way to the Supreme Court. Hopefully more Americans will wake up and realize that if we want our country to be worth living in we have to stand up and make it that way, whether the fed likes it or not. This is our country, let's make it great.
